The Mableton Improvement Coalition invites you to participate in a town hall meeting to discuss some great improvements for the community. Mark your calendar now for April 4th from 6-8pm. Be sure to attend and provide your ideas and input.
On April 4th, Cobb DOT will hold an Open House for the Walker Drive project, which is the first step towards recreating Mableton’s historic street layout. The meeting will be held from 6 to 8pm at Mableton Elementary School at 5220 Church St.
In June 2010, the community participated in the Mableton Design Workshop, where a vision for downtown Mableton was collaboratively created. Professional planners helped identify key components of a re-developed town center. Among those components were public gathering places and streets that were suitable for pedestrians and bicycles.
The Walker Drive project provides a quarter-mile of new roadway connecting the new square to Old Floyd Road and places a 3-acre town square in front of Mableton Elementary School. Pedestrian connectivity and safety as well as traffic flow for the school are important aspects of this new design. Click here to see the handout and learn more.
